Thomas Maxwell is a budding singer/songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, out of NYC. Thomas Maxwell has a special knack for playing by ear, coming up with catchy melodies and lyrics. Some of his biggest influences include Mac Demarco, Mac Miller, Tame Impala, The Gorillaz, FKJ, The Beatles, Steve Lacy, and many others. These influences shaped Maxwell to the artist he is today.
Thomas Maxwell grew up playing multiple instruments (piano, trumpet, and cello), starting at the age of 4. As a child Mac Miller played a huge role in his love for music. Thomas Maxwell was inspired by Mac Miller due to his ability of expressing himself for who he was. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Economics, he moved out to Boulder CO to start a software sales job. He realized fairly quickly, this wasn’t the path he wanted to take.ย
Thinking back to his childhood triggered him into buying a keyboard online. He started playing everyday before and after work, which turned to plugging the keyboard into his computer; this is where his production was born. Starting with garage band and moving to Logic pro months after, he spent hours crafting his sound. In his time out in Colorado he collaborated with local producers and artists in Denver, helping improve his skills. He continued playing the piano, got back into the trumpet, and has been learning the drums, and guitar on his Fender Stratocaster.
After Denver, Thomas moved back to the east coast and released his first EP “Moods.” This 4 track sensation has received extremely positive feedback and has resulted in multiple record labels reaching out. He is still currently independent, based in the NYC area, where you can find him practicing with his band for upcoming summer shows. He has hundreds of unreleased tracks, and written songs from the past few years of making music. He is working on releasing multiple projects in the coming months. His next release is an EP, inspired by many late night drives, which will be released in the late spring. Thomas Maxwell is ready to tackle the music industry head on, his consistent hard work is setting the stage for him to have a breakout year. Be prepared to hear more of his work in 2022.
