Riley Cardoza is a young up-and-coming EDM musician and percussionist. Based out of San Jose, California, Riley grew up in a diverse community with many local cultural and artistic influences in the Japantown area of San Jose. Music and art were a large part of his community growing up. As a child, Riley always wanted to contribute as a growing musician in a thriving music scene.
Embarking on his 7th year of formal music education. Over the last 7 years, he has acquired experience playing tenor sax, drumset, xylophone, and string bass. Riley got his start in electronic music in 7th grade when he started mixing loops in GarageBand. Later enhanced his skills in his hush school IB Music class. Through Marisa Finlayson’s instruction at San Jose High School, Riley began growing and developing his sound.
Over the years, Riley has seen many different musicians live in concerts. From U2, The Rolling Stones, The Scorpions, Queensryche, Chic, Duran Duran, ABC, Flock of Seagulls, Bastille, Pat Benatar, and several others, these artists are some of Riley’s biggest influences. His love for 80s new wave music can be heard in his debut single, The Rise of Darkness. The biggest goal for Riley is to make music that other people can enjoy as much as he does. Riley dreams of making a career involving creating music and influencing others to follow their dream. As he enters his senior year of high school, Riley is excited to see what the future holds.
